Modula Spa’s MODULA WMS warehouse management software recently obtained certification from the prestigious Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), a leading German research institute belonging to the Fraunhofer Society, Europe’s largest applied research organisation.
MODULA WMS is the heart of the Modula system, offering advanced, optimised warehouse management. While the Basic version offers all essential warehouse management functions, the most popular version is Modula WMS Premium, which is ideal for those seeking a comprehensive WMS solution that can be seamlessly integrated with existing ERP systems.
Modula WMS Premium is an advanced warehouse management software package that includes all the same functions as the Basic version, as well as a number of advanced features, such as:
- Automatic article-location matching and dynamic location management
- Batch management
- Automated import/export and customisable paths in ASCII, ODBC, Excel and XML formats
- Logistics and material status management
- Advanced management of package types and expiry dates
- Enhanced configuration of procedures enabled for each user
- FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or sub-code priority material handling, allowing the oldest materials to be prioritised for picking
- Management of reasons for immediate requests
Additional modules can be added to this license, such as Mobile App integration, manual warehouse management, advanced picking, and more.
The certification of Modula WMS was carried out by “Team warehouse logistics,” an interdisciplinary group of computer scientists, engineers, and logistics experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) in Dortmund.
As part of the IML’s Intralogistics Planning and IT department, this team drives logistics innovation through applied research. Founded in 2000, the team aims to bridge the gap between WMS customers and suppliers, assisting them in selecting and implementing a WMS system to meet their needs. For this purpose, a WMS database was created to record and compare the participating WMS systems’ validated functions.
Since 2010, Induvation GmbH has represented “Team warehouse logistics” on the Italian market, helping to strengthen IML’s presence and foster connections with Italian companies.
With this certification, Modula has once again reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and delivering advanced logistics solutions to assist businesses in their digital transformation. Modula WMS Premium remains a premier solution for addressing the evolving needs of the market, ensuring an increasingly efficient, integrated, and high-performance warehouse environment.
