Customized Configurations of Vertical and Horizontal Carousels

Depending on requirements, a custom warehouse configuration can be designed for your Modula automated vertical or horizontal warehouse, with various unit heights, payloads, dimensions, options and types of operator bays.

In particular, Modula offers four operator bay configurations:

internal
external
single
dual

An internal bay is the ideal solution when you need to minimise the floor space occupied by the automated warehouse and in case, for example, you want to install several Modula warehouses in a row, one in front of the other.

An external bay is definitely the most ergonomic solution for operators and is ideal for combination with bridge cranes or mechanical manipulators to lift heavy objects.

Both configurations can be equipped with a single delivery level, suitable if access to the vertical tray warehouse is not required too often, or for example in the event of low rotations, spare parts in production environments or when the operator picking time is very short.

A dual delivery level, known as ‘dual bay’, further reduces operator downtime. When a tray is in the bay and the operator is working, the next job is already being prepared for the tray to be ready and waiting in the bay a few seconds after work is finished on the previous tray. When combined with an external bay, this almost simultaneous changeover of trays helps to increase productivity significantly.

There is also an option to equip a Modula automated warehouse with opposite bays, to take advantage of both sides and to have bays on several levels, for example on different floors of the same building.

It is then possible to consider integrations between Modula warehouses and other technologies such as robots, AMRs, cranes, AGVs and conveyors.

The final step of customisation results from the wide range of options that be can used and implemented throughout the life cycle of the warehouse.

These run from visual aid systems and integrated picking solutions, to options to customise trays and bays and user authentication and energy saving systems.
