IGB

Modula warehouse management system for the automotive industry

Specialising in the distribution of motorbike parts, tyres, and accessories, throughout its 25-year history the Colombian company IGB has built a solid reputation for its commitment to quality. With a focus on its own brands, such as Revo and Timsun, IGB wanted to optimise its warehouse operations. The goals were to optimise space utilisation, to increase order picking efficiency, and to reduce picking errors, and they therefore turned to Modula for an effective solution.

Optimisation of IGB’s Warehouse Operations with Modula’s Automated Solutions

A board member who was already familiar with the company initially suggested introducing Modula’s automated solutions. Recognising the potential benefits, IGB purchased its first Modula Lift MX50D three years ago, followed by a second Modula Lift ML50D two years later.

Occupying an area of 24 square metres, the two Modula units increased IGB’s distribution space by 600 square metres. This optimisation enabled the company to handle its increased order volumes with ease.

In addition, the solution reduced the time and resources required for IGB’s onboarding, training, and coaching processes by almost 90%, resulting in considerable savings. Today, the two Modula modules are managed by a single person.

The integration of the two Modula lifts with the Modula WMS software and a picking station has significantly accelerated order processing, eliminating the need for users to navigate the area in search of individual items. The configuration allows multiple items to be consolidated within a single location, allowing up to 45 orders to be handled simultaneously. As a result, IGB achieved a 35% efficiency improvement for every motorbike parts order.
