Modula’s flexibility allowed it to stay abreast of all the company’s new technological challenges even when the decision was made in 2016 to revolutionize the packaging system to automate small orders.
In 2017, the choice of the first Modula was made to save space, improve ergonomics, and improve operator efficiency. At the time, an operator would prepare an order with a cart by traveling thousands of meters. This means more time available for value-added activities but also better working conditions.
Green light on order fulfillment 365 days a year with automated warehouses integrated with picking solutions
Now 1 operator prepares 10 orders simultaneously thanks not only to the vertical warehouse but also to the put-to-light systems, which guide operators to the 10 put-to-light pads. With just 4 Modula Mc25Ds, 150 to 300 orders per day are handled.
The use of alphanumeric LED bar, connected to the modula drawer, indicating location, pick quantity, item code. The bar code identifying each order guides the operator close to the Modula where the bar code is read and assigned to a pitch. The Modulas call into the bay the drawers necessary to pick the products needed to complete that order. Once prepared it is physically moved to the packing area with zero errors.
Important in this process is the interface between ERP and the Modula WMS through which this entire process would not be possible. A system that is easy, fast and above all quick to learn. In this way, company resources are interchangeable but more importantly they have been redistributed to other roles, for example in packaging.
