As the business flourished, the existing logistics management system required reorganisation to improve precision in handling the growing volume of orders. Manual picking processes were prone to errors, which increased during the busiest shopping periods of the year and during special website promotions. Accuracy in identifying and retrieving different packaging products was a significant challenge, leading to delays and critical errors.
Picking Revolution: Sabbioni Optimizes Logistics with Modula Solution.
The solution of six automated VLMs from Modula provided the answer Sabbioni needed to optimise picking processes. After receiving an order through the ERP system, the WMS software arranges the labels to be printed and assigns the orders to specific picking stations. Modula VLMs with external dual bays add efficiency by bringing the required item to the picker, who then places the product in the designated picking station. Operators use the Put to Light system to easily identify and confirm picked items, eliminating the need for visual recognition of products, especially during periods of high demand.
The use of laser pointers further improves efficiency by accurately indicating the compartment containing the product required, simplifying the picking process.
