Client Overview
Dozon, a Dutch one-stop-shop supplier for the construction, installation, interior, and window frame industries, serves customers and 9 branches daily from its logistics center in Doetinchem. With 25,000 items in stock, 110 employees, and an annual turnover of €35 million, Dozon is a family business focused on growth and innovation.
The Challenge: Preparing for Future Growth
Dozon anticipated a 40% increase in turnover over the next five years, but the existing warehouse posed challenges:
Limited Space: No physical expansion possibilities.
- Low Productivity: The current layout restricted efficiency improvements.
- Growing Demand for Value-Added Services: Better management of the bulk area and value-added services was necessary.
- The goal was clear: make logistics scalable and ready to support future growth without disrupting operations for customers.
The Solution: Implementing the Modula System
To meet these challenges, Dozon partnered with Vanas to implement a new logistics layout based on Modula solutions. The transformation was carried out in 3 key phases:
- Phase 1: Installation of 7 Modula machines, 9.3 meters high, managing 21,000 storage locations and optimized picking systems.
- Phase 2: Expansion of the bulk area with 1,050 new pallet spaces.
- Phase 3: Option to add 6 more Modulas for future growth needs.
Technical Details:
- Productivity: Increased from 80 lines/hour to 150 lines/hour.
- Inbound Space: Doubled compared to the original setup.
- Efficiency: Reduced internal movements and optimized services.
Results and Benefits
Thanks to the integration of Modula solutions, Dozon achieved tangible results:
- Productivity Increase: 80 → 150 lines/hour.
- Efficient Space Management: Optimized inbound area and new pallet bulk capacity.
- Scalable Flexibility: Modular solutions ready for future expansions.
- Continuous Improvement: Creation of a dedicated department for value-added services.
- Despite the ambitious schedule, the project was completed without operational interruptions, showcasing seamless collaboration between the Dozon and Vanas teams.
Conclusion
The implementation of Modula solutions has transformed Dozon’s logistics, making it future-ready, more efficient, and scalable. This project serves as a successful example of how an intelligent, automated layout can support sustainable business growth.
