Inim Electronics, a leading European company specialising in safety and security systems, was facing inefficiencies in warehouse operations. Manual processes and static racking contributed to costly picking errors and under-use of space. The company has been working hard to re-engineer its production departments and integrate new production lines.
Inim reduces space requirements by 65% and streamlines operations with Modula VLMs
By installing Modula vertical lift modules, Inim managed to reduce warehouse space and add new production lines. Around 70,000 packages, including over 1,000 unique items, are now safely stored inside Modula units. All operations are now more efficient, making all processes faster, error-free and ergonomic.
To address these challenges, Inim Electronics has implemented four Modula Slim units in the electronic boards department and two Modula Lift MXs to house electronic components, assembled boards and test materials. These six units now efficiently store over 70,000 packages comprising more than 1,000 unique items, resulting in a significant 65% reduction in the space previously occupied by conventional shelving systems. The new space has made it possible to improve the layout and introduce production lines and additional equipment.
Modula’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) integrates seamlessly with the company’s ERP system, expanding its functionality and simplifying operations. During picking, the operator scans products using the barcode reader. The WMS system then retrieves the tray from the correct compartment, according to a FIFO approach. These improvements have resulted in significantly faster, more efficient and completely error-free procedures. The working environment is now safer and more ergonomic.
The delicate electronics are stored in a safe, dust-free environment and are protected from electric shocks by the ESD protection in each tray.
