With the heart of a small local business, the Fertec hardware store is a prime example of how innovation, quality, and technology can transform a traditional business into a reference point for individuals and companies alike. As part of the Modula portfolio, Fertec has chosen to adopt cutting-edge solutions to optimise its management and customer service, demonstrating that even the most locally-rooted businesses can embrace advanced technology.
Space Optimisation and Efficient Management
One of the most significant aspects of the change brought about by Fertec is the adoption of a 4.9 metre tall Modula vertical storage system. This innovative warehouse allows small products to be stored in an orderly and easily-accessible manner. This solution was chosen due to the need to manage a vast assortment of items, ranging from particular hinge and cutter models to special parts, all of which are rendered visible and traceable in real time.
The Modula system not only ensures that each product is always in the right place, but also facilitates consultation in front of customers. Thanks to the automatic door, the products are protected and kept clean, and the operator can collect them directly from the tray. This system makes it possible to view the inventories and reorder requirements in real time, thus ensure quick and accurate responses to customer requests.
Another advantage is the alphanumeric LED bar, which guides the operator to the exact location of the tray, indicating the code and the number of pieces to be picked. This not only expedites the picking process, but also reduces the risk of errors, ensuring consistently punctual and efficient service.
The success of the first Modula warehouse prompted Fertec to further expand its storage capacities. A Modula MX50D warehouse of over 10 metres, designed to handle larger products, was therefore added. This warehouse is located outside the facility, and is contained within a box made from thermal insulation panels. This configuration not only optimises the use of space, but also ensures that the products are protected from temperature and moisture fluctuations, maintaining ideal storage conditions.
The external structure of the MX50D warehouse is earthquake-proof, ensuring maximum safety even in the event of natural seismic events. This is especially important to protect the investment and ensure that the products are always safe.
Fertec’s approach with Modula underscores how investment in technology plays both a functional and strategic role. The Modula system is modular, augmentable, and scalable, thus allowing Fertec to easily adapt to any future needs, and expand its capabilities without compromising on efficiency.
