As Italy’s first e-grocery pure player, Tulips optimises its storage management and accelerates the fulfilment of its e-grocery orders thanks to the use of vertical storage solutions.
Tulips is Italy’s first e-grocery pure player with an actual dark store that offers delivery within 3 hours of ordering. Purchases are made exclusively online, with home delivery or pick-up options.
With the rapid growth of online grocery sales, Tulips had to find a goods-to-person technology that would allow it to consolidate its storage needs and optimise its e-grocery order processing to ensure fast and error-free orders. Thanks to the implementation of 6 Modula MC50D Lift units and a mobile picking cart, Tulips was able to maximise its warehouse storage capacity, reduce operator travel times, and accelerate its e-grocery order fulfilment with a smooth connection to the ERP system.
Improve warehouse picking times and reduce order preparation costs with Modula automatic warehouses
Like many modern retailers, Tulips had to find a way to meet customer demands for fast home deliveries and in-store pick-ups. It is essential to have systems that provide for fast and accurate picking, optimising space and reducing labour. Tulips needed to increase its picking speed while maintaining its current space, even by improving the routes through the warehouse racks. Improving the picking times would reduce the order preparation costs and, consequently, the costs for customers.
In order to further optimise its order fulfilment times, Tulips began to consider automation and robotics. While researching automated warehouse solutions, they realised that automatic vertical warehouses would be ideal, as they drastically reduce picking times and optimise the storage space currently available.
Thanks to the implementation of 6 Modula MC50D Lift units, Tulips was able to maximise its warehouse storage capacity, reduce operator travel times, and accelerate its e-grocery order fulfilment with a perfect connection to the ERP system.
